This group meditation series is particularly designed to support your daily sitting practice. You will have an opportunity to review techniques that help you stay more focused and aligned with the benefits of a regular practice. You will review and learn new pranayama breathing techniques, explore different spiritual texts and have time for questions and sharing.
Research by Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard University has shown that “The benefits of meditation are many: the heart rate slows down, the blood pressure normalizes, oxygen is absorbed more effectively by the body, the adrenal glands produce less cortisol, the mind ages at a slower rate and all immune functions of the body improve. People who meditate regularly become more resilient and learn to cope with everyday stress in a new way.”
Whether you are a long time practitioner or have just recently started a meditation practice, this ongoing meditation series will help you deepen into your practice and stay committed to it.

Going Deeper
A Meditation and Yoga retreat at Joshua Tree Retreat Center
May 14 - 16, 2010
Please join Savita for a weekend meditation retreat at Joshua Tree Retreat Center (JTRC) “A Portal to your Inner Being”. This Sanctuary, just outside of Joshua Tree National Park, is located on 420 acres of pristine desert land. Resting upon a table of water it offers a powerful and rare fusion of sweeping vistas of desert, mountains and centuries old Joshua Trees. JTRC is a secluded desert getaway where the silence is so deep, that it awakens you. Drawing on the peacefulness of this sacred desert terrain as well as the extended practices of yoga, it’s a perfect place to connect with your own inner sanctuary.
Experience early morning meditations just as the desert wakes up and an enchanting evening under the stars of Joshua Tree. In addition to letting nature be our guide, we will explore the different yogic practices, including pranayama (breathwork) asanas (deeply restorative sequence to open body and mind) periods of silence, guided relaxation, the practice of ancient yoga mudras, discussion group and more.
Long time practitioners or those who have just recently started a yoga/meditation practice, who seek to deepen their practice in the company of a supportive community, will find this retreat conducive to a more meaningful connection with themselves and with nature.
